Handwriting and Multiple Sclerosis

One of the symptoms I got after diagnosis was losing my ability to write neatly as before. I was able to write both English & Arabic, but since I began to suffer the first symptoms of M.S, my writing ability went downhill,It's as if my brain's connection with my hand is disrupted, I picture the character exactly as it is, but trying to make my hand write it is sluggish.

Searching online for this showed me that I'm not alone: actually so many with M.S suffer from the same symptom with varying degrees. Moreover, I found this handy article from 'everydayhealth.com' about getting over the symptom:

I decide to follow the steps mentioned in the article, here they are:

  1. Pick the right pen.

  2. Slow down.

  3. Write in cursive rather than printing.

  4. Use wide-ruled paper.

  5. Get your body mechanics right.

  6. Choose the right time of day for writing tasks, when your energy level is higher.

Personally, I think a large portion of the problem -as with so many of Multiple Sclerosis symptoms- need some kind of cognitive rehabilitation, or learning to write again with a different approach.

I was living a normal life with my family when, at 52, I began experiencing muscle stiffness and twitching. After seeing a neurologist, I was diagnosed with ALS. It was a tough reality, and as the disease progressed, I eventually lost the ability to walk and relied on a wheelchair. A friend recommended EarthCure Herbal Clinic (www. earthcureherbalclinic .com), where I began treatment under Dr. Madida Sam. After about three months, I noticed significant improvements, less stiffness, fewer symptoms, and I was able to walk distances again.
